Boker Tov All! (good morning :))

It’s a great Saturday here in the central valley, not too hot and the sun in shining!  We have been really blessed to have such a long spring.  Usually spring consists of two weeks where the fog and frost are gone before the 100 degree weather hits, but this year it seems to be lasting for months, and I love it!  This week we reached the beginning of “summer”.  School’s out which means my training schedule is changing a bit.  For the next couple months I will be blessed with some training sessions that allow me a couple of hours of continual vaulting, rather than an hour here and a lunch break there.  It also means that I will be getting in the weight room a few times a week and starting to build back some of the muscle I lost after college.  Needless to say I’m stoked!  I will post some updates here in a few weeks with how all of it is going.

Last night I saw ‘Soul Surfer’ with a couple of friends.  Great movie, if you haven’t seen it you really need to check it out.  It was a good reminder of why our identity can only truly be found in Christ alone.  If we identify ourselves in anything else it will eventually come crashing down.  Whether you define yourself by your sport, or by your career, or by your relationships, or even by your ‘religion’, the man-made walls will break down and ultimately crumble.

Luke 6:47-49 “Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like; he is like the man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well-built.  But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great”.

And what is the word Christ preached?

Luke 24:44a, 46-47 “These are My words which I spoke to you… It is written that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead on the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” Mark 8:34-36 “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.  For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.  For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?”

When Christ becomes the groundwork, we can then become the athlete, the mom, the father, the friend, the worker, the manager, the __________, that we were created to be; knowing that when the title fades, Christ does not.  And knowing this gives you strength to face the unknown.
