REST WEEK!

There is a time for everything under the sun, and this week, tis the time for rest!

I am wondering how many of you could use a rest week??

For us, rest week is not “vacation”. It does not mean that we do nothing, it simply means we scale back our responsibilities and take a couple of extra moments off. In an all or nothing culture I think we struggle to find balance. Work. Rest. Work. Rest. When do we do which? Most the time when we think of work, we have the mindset of more equals better. And when we think of rest we associate more with lazy. I’m not just talking about sports… It happens in family, in work, in church, in social, in life. Few and far between are the people who, when you look at them, you think to yourself, “They know how to rest well!” The people who get things done, who are accomplished, who love others well, but who know how to scale back responsibilities so that their work is actually more productive meaningful.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. It doesn’t have to be the few and far between. I believe it can be for us! Here’s the thing: It has to be intentional. Rest does just happen. It’s a choice. It’s a choice to say no to certain things so that other things can grow. You’ve heard it said, “Say no to the good so that you can say yes to the best”… I say AMEN! Choose now to say yes to slowing down, so that when you have to run you have the chance to endure. In a culture that praises rest, yet seems to ignore it, let’s go against the grain. Ask God, right now, to open your eyes to what you can say no to throughout this upcoming week so that you may experience rest. Create your own “rest week”. Scale back. And if you are thinking to yourself, “there is no way that I can do that next week…” then it’s probably a good sign that it is the very thing that you NEED to do. It’ll be hard, it’ll be against your nature, but it will be oh so worth it! Because then, when He presents a way for you to See Opportunity And Respond, you have new strength to respond with!

This is the door we walk through as we leave training each day…
